Eugene, OR – The No. 2-rated Oregon women opened Pac-12 conference play on Friday night with a 58-point win over Colorado. Things were almost as easy this afternoon as the Ducks (12-1) easily defeated an over matched Utah squad 88-51 before 10.490 fans at Matt Knight Arena.
Oregon led 29-10 after one quarter, by 45-24 at the half and coasted from there. The Ducks substituted frequently in this game as nine players logged at least 13 minutes. Sabrina Ionescu led Oregon with 17 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists while Ruthy Hebard had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Minyon Moore played one of her better games offensively and finished with 17 points on 7-of-11 from the field and added three rebounds and two assists against no turnovers. Erin Boley added 10 points while connecting on two three-pointers. Lola Pendante, a 6-3 freshman center from Spain, led the Utes with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Oregon shot 53 percent from the floor while holding Utah to 37 percent shooting. The Ducks had a 40-25 edge in rebounding and forced Utah into 20 turnovers while only committing eight.
Things should get somewhat tougher for Oregon as they travel to Arizona, facing Arizona State on Friday and Arizona on Sunday. Utah heads home to face UCLA on Friday and USC on Sunday.
