We have been in the basketball scouting business for over a decade and feel fortunate that we’ve grown NetScouts Basketball as much as we have. We’ve been scouting all over the globe, been to China with our USA All-Star teams over a dozen times, and have been in every corner of the USA, scouting every level of basketball. Now it’s time to give something back and help those who want to get started in the business.
NetScouts Basketball started this basketball scout training program after entering a strategic partnership agreement with Sports Management Worldwide (SMWW). We started offering our training to graduates of SMWW’s Basketball General Manager and Scouting Course and subsequently extended the offer to other applicants that we felt had demonstrated the capability of being successful in the basketball industry.
We’ve now taken the next step and expanded it into a Scout Certification Program. As part of that expansion, we’ve partnered with Ermay Duran and Advance Pro Basketball. Here’s a brief video. Ermay is one of the top analytics minds in the profession and he will organize and conduct an analytics piece to the certification program with game scouting software. Ermay and his company will also be our program representatives in Europe.
Scout trainees will be:
- Credentialed for college basketball or overseas club or professional games in your geographic area where you will live-scout alongside professional scouts at press row
- Assigned video scouting of overseas international tournaments
- Trained in NetScouts Basketball’s scouting process
- Taught basketball analytics in a course-type process
- Trained in analytics software which will be used as part of the scouting process
- Writing scouting reports which will be critiqued by NetScouts Basketball
- Writing content for games covered which will be featured on our website and others
- Receiving important industry experience and an excellent resume reference
Trainees who have completed their year with sufficient live-scouting experience, submitted scouting reports in the quality required, and passed the analytics portion of the process will be certified by NetScouts Basketball as being proficient in basketball scouting.
This program is available for the cost of $695 for the year. We may limit the acceptance of applicants to this program based on geographic area or college. We’ll generally have 20 people in each training group.
Successful scouts will be able to use NetScouts Basketball as a reference in pursuing relevant job opportunities as well as having the “Certification” help in your job search.
