Body and athleticism
Good length, good frame to build on (6’5” wingspan, + 2). Deceptively quick-not a player one looks at and is floored by his quickness but he is very crafty and changes speeds well and the net result is a player who makes quick moves. Average to above average leap with step and without step. Good speed with ball in open court.
Has gotten much stronger in upper and lower body since freshman season. He is quick with ball in open court and more importantly, in half court sets. It is a deceptive quickness-he is quick with the ability to change speeds and direction not just a straight to basket quickness. Fast in open floor. Average with step and without step leap.
Shooting
Has a good stroke. His form is good and his release is quick. He can shoot from distance off dribble or spotting up. He shoots 34% from 3 point territory on 3.8 attempts per game but believe he is a better shooter. He has nice mid-range game. He handles the ball well and creates space with hesitation dribble, ball fakes, misdirection on screens, and good ball handling skills. He has good balance, form, rotation, and follow thru from line. Shoots 75% from line on 4.9 attempts per game.
The B.C. offense is totally dependent on his ability to make shots and penetrate. He often has the ball in his hands and must create offense off dribble so he can tend to force shots depending on whether his teammates are making shots. Can shoot off dribble, spotting up, or action and shoot. Has good release point and fairly quick release. Best shooting when spotting up. Can hit 3 off dribble going left or right. Can hit 3 step back jumper (strength, advance move). Very good form, rotation, and follow thru from line. Shooting 82% on 7.1 attempts per game.
Position and offense
Stepped in and played the point. Performed admirably against more heralded players. He is very crafty with ball and a very cerebral player. He understands and has a good feel for the game. His assist numbers and assist:TO ratio will not blow one away but he is efficient on a disciplined but not overly talented team (2.3 assists: 2.1 turnovers per game).
Gets to basket with quickness, hesitation dribbles, strong decisive moves, and change of direction. Is very effective at penetrating and kicking to open shooter. Does this as well as any guard I have seen this season. Can finish at basket by absorbing contact but his average leaping ability and average length inhibits his ability to finish.
Defense and rebounding
He has good anticipation and has fairly good quickness laterally. He can be over powered but he has a good understanding of defensive spacing. He also is a very good rebounder for a point guard averaging 4.1 per game
A decent on ball defender. Did have trouble with Briante Weber’s quickness. Moves well laterally. A decent rebounder for size (3.5 rpg’s).
Miscellaneous
May be the most impressive freshman in the ACC as far as contributing to team’s success. Prepped for Northfield Mt. Hermon. Hails from Quebec. ACC Rookie of the Year last season.
