Body and athleticism
Long center with good size and frame. Should continue to fill out, and improve functional athleticism into his collegiate years. Lateral quickness still needs some work, but improvement was evident over prior years’ game film.
Shooting
Inconsistent, but fixable, shooting stroke at the line, with a slightly hitched release point just above middle of forehead, which resulted in both swishes and bricks. Has shown the capability to hit shots from the mid-range, using his length to overcome quality close-outs.
Position and offense
Loves to set up camp on the left block. Thrives on the baby hook over the right shoulder, his go-to shot selection. Needs to continue to work on his left hand touch, and the versatility of his post-game and finishes, but really holds his own down low, offensively.
Defense and rebounding
Fares well on the defensive glass, and uses his length well to scrape down offensive boards. Tied for second in the tournament in rebounds per game, and total offensive rebounds. Can continue to improve on finding a man and boxing out to supplement his length. High defensive upside as a rim protector as frame continues to fill out and athleticism/strength continue to improve.
Miscellaneous
High academic student, who, in the early stages of his recruitment, holds offers from Old Dominion and Hofstra, with notable interest from Cal Poly, Princeton, UMass, UAB, UC Santa Barbara, and San Diego. Zelizňák has noted, on the record, that if he were to come to the States to play collegiately, academics would certainly be an important factor in his decision.
