Body and athleticism
His size “changes” depending on the source consulted from 6’7” to 6’10” but he looks around 6’7”-6’8”. Very strong player, great frame, well muscled. Potent and tough when aggressive. Not especially explosive or quick. Average/decent length. Good motor. Powerful moves, loves to body-up and outmuscle his rival.
Shooting
Didn’t show any long or mid range game when we scouted him. Shot technique is not good, stroke not soft nor fluid. Struggles from the FT line. Touch is decent inside, with limited number or moves/finishes.
Position and offense
A powerful inside player. Uses his tremendous strength to overpower the rival in the low post. Has potent counter moves and pushes back to create some space to deliver the drop shot. Footwork is just ok, using power rather than agility/skills in the paint. Not polished, has some trouble when finds another big, strong center in front. Irregular due to focus issues. Plays decently in transition, arriving with energy. Needs to add, at least, some mid range game. Can pass the ball from both posts when willing to. A bit selfish at times, tends to force actions.
Defense and rebounding
A good rebounder, outmuscling rivals in the paint to protect his basket and find the better position to grab the ball. Needs defensive fundamentals and IQ to become more than just a tough, strong guy. Lacks lateral quickness, suffers against face-up PF. Activity and focus disappear sometimes.
Miscellaneous
Dominant when coming to Europe to play as he’s stronger than his rivals. In the other hand, he looks a bit lost in complex systems and struggles fitting into the team. Showed very important discipline and focus issues, arguing with his coaches and teammates, taunting and losing control. Focus issues and bad attitude at times. In 2011 Nordic Championship we saw a ridiculous situation, when he joined a “taunting-battle” with some girls (a women basketball team participating in the event) in the stands in the middle of a game, losing focus completely (looking at the girls while going back to the defensive end, after a basket, etc), turning the ball over and being beaten on defense. Was substituted and argued with his coach. Coachable? Needs to add fundamentals and some versatility, will have problems to translate his game to the next level.
Ranking
NCAA Division I high major prospect. Not a NBA caliber player. Should find a place in Europe but needs to change his attitude and mental approach.
