With a combination of great length and athleticism, Valtonen loves to use his body. Overall, he is a very elite athlete.

Shooting

With his length and athleticism, he can create space off the bounce with a very good step-back jumper. Has a very consistent and fluid release. Valtonen can shoot both off the catch as well as off the bounce.

Position and offense

Valtonen has the quickness and length to get by most defenders. Has the ability to finish above the rim with great aggressiveness. He can move inside and play in the paint, or take his defender outside and hit the three. With good ball skills, he can often grab a rebound a lead the break utilizing his unselfishness and above average passing skills for his position.

Defense and rebounding

His quick feet and length gives him the ability to switch to many different positions. He possesses the frame and bounce to block many shots in the paint, but the quickness to stay with smaller guards on the perimeter. His jumping ability and athleticism are shown when he skies for rebounds.

Valtonen possesses all the skills and abilities to play at a high level. If he can consistently knock down three’s he will be an elite wing at the Division 1 level.
