Foshan (Guangdong), China – The NetScouts Basketball USA All-Stars completed a sweep here in Foshan with a gard-fought 64-54 win over host China tonight in the Four Nations International Youth Tournament.
The USA All-Stars toyed with a three to five point lead most of the game, thanks to some tough down low work by Jamee Swan. Jamee finished with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting and added nine rebounds. The methodical Chinese team would cut the U.S. lead to one point on several occasions in the second half. They did this by getting to the free throw line and hitting 19-of-21 from the charity stripe. Three timely treys by Taylor Proctor quelled the Chinese momentum each time though.
The USA All-Stars would pull away in the end on some beautiful transition basketball and clutch free throw shooting. The U.S. team out-rebounded China 44-36 with Morgan Bailey collecting 10 boards, and forced the Chinese into 22 turnovers.
The American post players were particularly effective as they shot a combined 17-of-25 from the field. The USA won despite shooting only 4-of-19 from long-distance and 8-of-19 from the foul line. They’ll need to improve their shooting to continue their undefeated play.
Next is a travel day as all three teams head to Zunyi in Guizhou Province with the first game the night of April 7th.
