Dushanzi, China – The NetScouts Basketball USA All-Stars (3-1) played a strong second half and pulled away from Canada (1-4) en route to a 115-97 win in Dushanzi. A near capacity crowd of 4,236 tonight witnessed the first local international basketball competition in over a year.
Canada played a strong first half hitting over 50 percent of their three-pointers. The half was close throughout with the Americans leading 53-51 at the break. The USA led by inspired play from Taylor King, Anthony Mason Jr. and Greg Howard pulled away to a 80-69 lead and never looked back. The lead expanded to 26 points in the fourth quarter as Cameron McCaffrey hit back-to-back three-pointers. The USA then cruised to the 18-point win.
The team travels to Karamay tomorrow for a rematch with host China. Then we will return to Dushanzi to face China again. Sellouts are expected for both contests.
NetScouts Basketball USA All-Stars Head Coach James Andrisevic “Once again our defense and rebounding left something to be desired in the first half. We came out strong in the second half and pushed the pace which may have gotten Canada tired as they were playing back-to-back games. Anthony and Taylor both had outstanding games. China back to back will be a test. We’ll need consistent effort from the entire squad to come out on top.”
