The NetScouts Basketball USA All-Stars clinched the “Four Nations” title with a convincing 83-57 win over Hungary before 3,455 fans in Changshu, China. It was the eighth straight win for the Americans and second straight 25+-point win.
The USA pulled away after a 21-21 first quarter, outscoring Hungary by 14 points in the second quarter and 62-36 in the final three quarters. The Americans dominated in rebounding once again, this time by a +28 margin. The USA shot 51% in the game, including 50% on three-pointers (5-of-10) and held Hungary to 22% on three-pointers (6-of-27).
The Americans scored over 50% of their points in the paint, led by Talia Caldwell’s 15 points. Taleya Mayberry had another strong game with 14 points while Jessica Lawson added 12. Nikki Greene grabbed 10 rebounds, five on the offensive end. Tijana Krivacevic led Hungary with 17 points but needed 20 shots to get her points
The USA concludes their stay in Changshu, and will try to remain undefeated, with the final game of the tournament tonight at 7PM local time against China. Hungary and Australia finish their games with an early contest this afternoon. Earlier in the evening China went to 6-2 for the event with a 83-76 win over Australia. Xiaojia Chen continued her fine play, leading China with 20 points on four three-pointers. Australia was led by Katie Ebzery with 15 points. Olivia Thompson added 12 and Alex Sheedy 11.
Early tomorrow morning we are off to Beijing, then will bus to Qinhuangduo for two scrimmages against the China U19 national team.
