University of Kansas wing Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk has been named Netscouts Basketball International Player of the Week for games through January 28th. The Jayhawks went 1-1 in two games this week and Mykhailiuk averaged 24 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. In an 85-80 against a tough Oklahoma team Mykhailiuk scored 24 points including six three pointers to go along with five rebounds, four assists and a steal. The Ukrainian followed that up with another big performance in a much-needed bounce back win against Texas A&M (79-68). He put together another 24-point performance on top of his six rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Kristy Wallace of Baylor University has been named NetScouts Basketball International Women’s Player of the Week for games through January 28th.. The senior from Australia carried her team to wins against No.6-ranked Texas (81-56) and No. 20 West Virginia (83-72). In the victory over Texas, Wallace scored a career-high 27 points while adding seven rebounds and four assists. She followed that up with another great performance against West Virginia, scoring 25 points, going 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and adding four assists. On the week, the Australian averaged 26 points and 4.0 assists on 66.6 percent shooting from the floor and 62.5 percent on three-pointers.
