Yuqing (Guizhou), China – The NetScouts Basketball USA All-Stars won their fourth straight game in the Four Nations International Youth Tournament coasting to a 81-63 win over New Zealand before a capacity crowd of 3,162.
The theme of this tournament for the USA All-Stars so far has been athletic defense creating easy transition opportunities. Although the USA continued that trend tonight in Yuqing, it was the outside shooting that really got the team rolling this time against New Zealand. The USA would build a 22- point halftime lead, and inflate that margin to as much as 40 points into the third quarter before settling for the 18-point victory.
The USA All-Stars started off hot from beyond the arc, hitting 9-of-13 in the first half for a blazing 69 percent. The Americans also would force New Zealand into 25 turnovers using a mix of man and zone defenses throughout the game. Taylor Proctor led the way for the USA with 17 points. The USF Don shot 50 percent from the 3 point line (2of-4) and knocked down 5-of-7 free throws. Jamee Swan and Toni Smith would each contribute double figures as well, finishing with 10 points apiece on a combined 8-of-15 shooting. Jordan Sullivan dominated the boards pulling down ten rebounds in her 22 minutes of action. All ten players for the US squad scored against New Zealand.
Earlier in the day the USA and New Zealand eams visited a local school and were introduced in from of all the students who were lined up in assembly like formation outside. It was a great experience for both teams.
