In the second game of the three-city, nine-game tour the NetScouts Basketball USA All-Stars defeated Germany 68-54.
The USA started fast opening up a 21-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. Germany fought back into the game in the second quarter cutting the deficit to 36-30 at the half. The third quarter saw both teams play even with the USA leading at the end of three quarters by five points. The USA picked up the defense the last seven minutes and closed the game out on a 13-4 run to win 68-54.
Tyler Cain led the USA with 16 points and six rebounds. Anthony Gurley chipped in with 15 points. Brian Addison who scored 21 points in the opener against Lithuania hurt his knee on a dunk at the close of that contest. Addison played sparingly in this game but should be fine for the next game against China.

The NetScouts Basketball Women’s USA All-Stars originally were entered into a “Four Nations” tournament with China, Australia and Russia. However Russia has pulled out due to injuries and Australia did not make it into the country due to Visa issues. As a result the tournament has been renamed the “2012 Longrich Cup Sino-American Women’s Basketball Pre-Olympic Challenge”.
Our USA team will be playing the Chinese National Team in a three-game series on July 2, 3 and 4. All the games will be televised throughout China on CCTV Channel 5, the Chinese equivalent of ESPN.
We had some free time the last two days and made it to a local park with food and street vendors as well as to an old town part of Jinzhong City that dates back to the Ming Dynasty. There were lots of street vendors and some shops. This is an area of about 3 million people and it is apparent that none of them have ever seen an American before.
Yesterday the first item we saw was the Oregon dress on the right.The picture on the left was taken by hundreds of locals at the park. we may have a picture of the locals taking the pictures of us, we’ll post it if we can locate it.
Amanda Johnson
We are all very popular and have taken hundreds of pictures with the locals. The most popular person in Jinzhong City is Scott Heinrichson, our trainer from anta Clara, who is 6’6”. He will be challenged by our Assistant Coach Ryan Johnson who will be arriving tomorrow. Ryan is 6’7. Scott was surrounded by dozens of people repeatedly the last few days.
Out first game against the Chinese National Team is tomorrow night at 730 pm local time.
