Auburn, AL – The Auburn Tigers never trailed against Patriot League favorite Colgate, defeating the Raiders by a score of 91-62. Auburn led by as much as 36 points early in the second half. Five Tiger players finished in double figures. Samir Doughty (6-4) led all scorers with 20 points, including 4-of-9 shooting from three-point range. His made these in both transition and a step back three off a devastating crossover. J’von McCormick (6-0) followed his record setting assist performance last week with 14 points and eight assists, getting into the lane with ease, and also shooting 2-of-5 from distance. Austin Wiley (6-11) added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Reigning SEC Freshman of the week Isaac Okoro (6-6) added 11 points. Okoro was very active defensively, guarding all five positions and scoring at the rim five times, including a thunderous alley-oop to close the first half. He was the only Auburn player that could guard Colgate senior center Rapolos Ivanauskas (6-10).
Ivanauskas has 12 points and four rebounds, giving each Auburn defender difficulty defending him on the perimeter and in the low post. Junior guard Jordan Burns (6-0) led the Raiders in scoring with 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting. He scored from every level, shooting 2-for-7 from three, driving past his defender for multiple layups, and making three mid-range jump shots off the dribble.
Colgate (1-3) will travel home to face Division III opponent SUNY Cortland on Thursday. Auburn (5-0) will have a week off before traveling to Brooklyn to face New Mexico in the next round of the Legends Classic on Monday.
