Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the University of Kentucky has been named NetScouts Basketball Men’s International player of the Week for games through December 31st. The freshmen from Canada led the Wildcats to a win against their over cross-town rival Louisville (90-61) with a career high 24 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. He capped the week off with another big performance in a close win against Georgia (66-61) in which he put up 21 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. On the week he averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals on 52 percent shooting from the floor and 89 percent from the line.
Marie Gulich of Oregon State University has been name NetScouts Women’s International Player of the Week for games through December 31st. In het two games she averaged 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4.5 blocks on 76 percent shooting as the Beavers started out conference play with a pair of wins over Washington (75-63) and Washington State (71-53). The senior from Germany filled the stat sheet in the conference opening win against Washington with a season- high 24 points on 11-of-12 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds and seven blocks. She followed that up with her sixth double-double of the year and third straight in the victory against Washington State as she had 22 points (8-of-13 FG), 14 rebounds, and two blocks.
