Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk of the University of Kansas has been named NetScouts Basketball Men’s International Player of the Week for games through January 7th. The senior from Ukraine led the Jayhawks in two tough conference games this week, a win at TCU (88-84) and a loss against Texas Tech (85-73). In the win over TCU he scored 23 points, going 5-of-7 from 3, and tied a season high with six assists. He capped the week off with another good performance against Texas Tech in which he put up 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. For the week, he averaged 15.5 points on 45.8 percent shooting and an impressive 50 percent from long distance.
Borislava Hristova of Washington State University has been named NetScouts Basketball International Women’s Player of the Week. The redshirt sophomore from Bulgaria turned out two impressive performances in a win over Colorado (89-75) and in a close loss to Utah (81-79). In the victory over Colorado, Hristova scored season-high 36 points including 4-of-6 from three and added five rebounds. She followed that up with a solid performance in the loss to Utah where she had 29 points, five rebounds and four assists. On the week, the Bulgarian averaged 32.5 points and 5.0 rebounds on 65.9 percent shooting from the floor.
