Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. of Baylor University has been named NetScouts Basketball’s International Men’s Player of the week for games through December 17th. The big man from Australia put up 24.5 points per game to go along with 12.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks on a solid 63.3 percent from the field while leading Baylor to consecutive wins over Texas Southern (99-68) and Savannah State (118-86). Acuil scored 18 points to go along with five rebounds and two blocks in the win over Texas Southern. Later in the week he dominated Savannah State in a game which had career-highs in points at 31 and rebounds with 20 while adding three blocked shots. He has scored in double figures in Baylor’s last five games and will be key in the Bears’ success going forward.
Georgia Pineau of Boston College has been named NetScouts Basketball International Women’s Player of the Week for games through December 17th. She averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists on an efficient 52 percent shooting while splitting games with Seton Hall (73-53L) and New Hampshire (64-55W). The sophomore forward from Victoria, Australia had a nice outing against Seton Hall when she scored 18 points while shooting 57 percent from the field and picking up eight rebounds. She then proceeded to have a double-double against New Hampshire, her third of the season, with ten points and 12 rebounds. She is almost averaging a double-double, with 12.1 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game while shooting 49.4 percent on the season.
