Italian 2017 combo guard Davide Moretti has committed to Texas Tech. The 6-2 Moretti helped the U18 Italian national team to third place in the FIBA U18 European Championships last summer, averaging 14.8 points and 5.0 assists while shooting over 45 percent on three-pointers.
Moretti just completed a visit to the USA where he took official visits to UConn, Indiana and Utah in addition to Texas Tech. He’ll be returning to Italy to join the U19 national team as they prepare to play in the FIBA U19 World Championships which takes place in Egypt in early July. This past season Moretti averaged 12.7 points and 2.2 assists and shot 37.7 percent from long distance for Treviso in the second best league in Italy.
NetScouts Basketball’s recent scouting report on Moretti indicates that “he has very quick hands and is a sharp, excellent ball-handler. Decision making +++, if he has good day he is unstoppable. He can score from any place on the half court. Can be a facilitator or a scorer but is the leader of his team.”
Moretti is seasoned with solid experience in a high level, professional league the last two seasons and should be a contributor from day one for the Red Raiders.

Moretti is a great player. I am a faithful follower of the Italian team and this guy has a great talent.
I understand that Texas Tech University has recruited a good player.
I hope Moretti can play Texas Tech basketball the same way he has done for his country’s national team.

He has quite a bit of international experience and should have no problem having a big role as a freshman.
