Newark, NJ – The Seton Hall – Creighton contest was a tough battle between two rivals in the Big East. Creighton got off to a hot start shooting from the three point line and running the transition game. Blue Jays star Justin Patton, guard Marcus Foster and sharp shooter Cole Huff led the way for Creighton.
Seton Hall’s Khadeen Carrington had a monster game finishing with 41 points and was able to give the Pirates a lead down the stretch to knock off the 20th ranked team in the country. Carrington got started early and continued to put pressure on the Blue Jay defense all game. He was able to get to the foul line with 18 points at the stripe . He also was able to stretch the floor and knock down a few threes which opened things up for the rest of his team mates. He finished with seven assists and five rebounds.
On a night where it seemed Carrington could do no wrong. Angel Delgado was also a huge factor putting another double-double on the board. He had 17 points and 17 rebounds as he dominated the paint for most of the game. Delgado was able to draw double teams all night which allowed Desi Rodriguez openings to finish with 18 points.
The Blue Jays were able to answer the Pirates most of the game to keep it close in the second half. NBA prospect Patton finished with 15 points but only two rebounds. He ran the floor very well and shot 7-of-10 from the field. Foster led Creighton with 23 points, six rebounds and six assists and did a good job of making plays for others.
Overall it was a close game throughout but the Pirates Big 3 of Carrington, Delgado and Rodriguez were too much offensively as Seton Hall came out with an 87-81 win. Seton Hall once again won the rebound battle and shot a better percentage from the field than Creighton.
