The USA 2014 Blue Team won the 2013 adidas Nations title with a hard-fought 81-77 victory over the Jalil Okafor led USA 2014 Red. North Carolina bound Theo Pinson was active for the winners with 15 points and seven rebounds. He was helped out by 14 points from Reid Travis, 11 points and eight rebounds from D’Angelo Russell and ten points and eight rebounds from 6’10 Trey Lyles.
Okafor scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Red team but it wasn’t enough. Stanley Johnson added 17 points and 11 rebounds but shot only 6-of-18. 6’8 Kevon Looney was impressive throughout the event and added 13 points, five rebounds and another three blocked shots. The Blue team was down by six at the half but turned the game around with a 31-16 third quarter.
Team Africa continued to be the surprise of the event, taking third place with a convincing 69-56 win over USA 2015 Red. The Africans won the battle of the boards by a 48-38 margin and hit 50% (9-of-18) on three-pointers. Africa was led by 6’3 Sidy Ndir who scored 23 points, shooting from mid-to-long distance and scoring off penetration. Point guard Nehdi Ngouma had his best game of the event with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. 6’7 Papa Sadia Diatte was active throughout finishing with 16 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. Cameron Walker led the 2015 Red team with 13 points.
