Jack Gibbs has been one of the top scorers in college basketball this season and led Davidson to a pair of victories this week. The Westerville, Ohio native has been named NetScouts Basketball’s National Player of the Week for games from December 7th to December 13th.
The junior guard started the week with 37 points on 12-of-17 shooting in a 96-86 win over Eastern Washington. He also added six rebounds and six assists in the victory. Gibbs then notched a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in an 87-54 win against Western Carolina. On the week, Gibbs averaged 27.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 64.3% (18-28) from the field and 46.2% (6-13) from three-point range.
Gibbs is currently the nation’s fourth-leading scorer, averaging 25.3 points per game. With Davidson off to a 7-1 start, the Wildcats will look for Gibbs to carry the scoring load this season.
Buddy Hield is off to a fantastic start to his senior year and helped Oklahoma pick up another two wins against Villanova and Oral Roberts. The Freeport, Bahamas native has been named NetScouts Basketball’s International Player of the Week for games from December 7th to December 13th, the second time he’s received the honor this season.
The 6-foot-4 guard opened the week against ninth ranked Villanova in the Pearl Harbor Invitational. Hield scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds as the Sooners picked up a key non-conference win. He then poured in 30 points against Oral Roberts as Oklahoma cruised to a 96-73 victory. In two games, Hield averaged 24.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 46.9% (15-32) from the field, 50% (8-16) from distance, and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line.
After earning the honor in the opening week this season, Hield has continued to score at a high-level. He’s averaging 22.1 points to go with 5.0 rebounds per game and has cemented himself as one of the top shooters in the country.
