HBA-Marsky Helsinki **At Davidson**
Body and athleticism
Good size for the position if he finally moves to the SF spot as it seems he would. Long and very fluid, coordinated. Runs the floor well. Smooth. Not explosive not particularly quick, but pretty mobile for a guy of his size and length. Decent overall athlete, he lacks intensity and aggressiveness too often, seems to play with lack of emotions and heart. Good footwork, decent lateral quickness. Needs to bulk up and get way stronger.
He has long range but his mechanics are very inconsistent at this point, which you can see translated into his streaky percentages. Knocks down the three when shoots with confidence and his feet set but struggles off the dribble, having problems to get into rhythm when delivers off the dribble from mid and long range. Has a decent touch around the basket but the lack of aggressiveness and strength reduces his efficiency as a finisher. Solid shot selection, doesn´t force the issue. Au contraire, he could be a bit shy at times. Good FT shooter.
Position and offense
Oskar is one of those players who shows you lot of potential but the lack of aggressiveness and passion limit it to certain games or even minutes. He has solid fundamentals and natural feel for the game. He´s very smooth in his moves, handles the ball well (improving a lot with his left hand), moves off the ball, cuts to the basket, can face the rival forwards from outside to inside and shoots the mid and long range shot. All inconsistently so far, but is quite easy to see him dominating plenty of facets of the offensive game in the future. He´s playing both forwards spots but should move to SF down the stretch. Fill the lanes well in transition. Struggles in traffic. Decent passer.
Defense and rebounding
Not a good rebounder as he tends to play away from the basket and doesn´t possess the strength and aggressiveness to box out properly and fight in the paint. He´s long and agile so he has some tools but needs to learn how to use them. Inconsistent defender, he could be a tweener although we think he could be able to guard SF with the proper work and approach. Lacks of toughness is a concern here.
Oskar is the prototype of Nordic youngster we are watching going to Spanish and Italian clubs youth programs. Quite surprising he´s, apparently, still out of the radar. He´s very talented and has intriguing potential. Could become a very skilled, smooth SF with some ability to play PF and create mismatches in the rival defense. He looks smart and disciplined. Lacks toughness and aggressiveness, he´s shy offensively too often and can get bullied at the defensive end.
NCAA Division I high major talent. Needs to improve athletically and add some toughness in order to survive in College basketball. Probably a better fit for European basketball. Has pro potential. 2013: Playing in top league in Finland. Check eligibility.
