Player overview
Excellent leaper, good ball handler, moves feet well, plays hard and good all-around athlete. Attacks the basket hard. Defends well in the low post and on the perimeter. Can take bigger defenders outside and post up smaller defenders. Excellent shooter from from 15 to 17 feet. Needs to improve on 3-point shooting.
Chad participated in the National Basketball Association Development League National Tryout in Chicago, Illinois in September 2011. Brian Levy, Bakersfield (California) Jam Player Personnel Director, ranked him among the Jam's top 10 prospects for the NBADL Draft in November 2011.

Testimonials
Steve Jenkins, Head Coach Evangel University
Chad Gillaspy is a 6-6, 215 lb. forward, left-handed, very athletic, quick, strong, aggressive, slashing, 4 man who averaged 12.3 ppg (second leading scorer on our team) and 8.0 rpg (second leading rebounder in the conference and 3rd leading career rebounder at Evangel) on a talented and well-balanced Evangel team that went 26-9, 17-3 and co-champions of the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season, champions of the HAAC post-season tournament, and first round winner in the NAIA Div. I National Tournament. He was first team all conference (a five-man first team from an 11-team league), and an Honorable Mention All-American. Chad is our hardest worker, our leading rebounder, took the most charges, had the most dunks, and so on. We played a very strong schedule and fought injuries throughout the season. We didn't graduate anyone from our 2010 team that went 20-13, but we started what should have been our starting lineup only one game all year. Chad is a warrior, never complains, and brings it every day to practice. As good a player as he is, he is an even better person. His character is squeaky clean and he has never been in any trouble on or off the court.
He is not a great three-point shooter, but has worked extremely hard on his field goal percentage which ended the year at 52.4%. He can create his own shot off the dribble and is at his best when he attacks the basket. Not many four men can stop him 1 on 1. He is a great defensive rebounder, but could be a better offensive rebounder. He has really improved his 14-17 foot jump shot. We have had several players play overseas, and I believe Chad can do the same.
