GAME OF THE WEEK
(No.14) UCLA @ (No.6) STANFORD—Friday 1/18/13 @ 11pm ET
- After losing twice at home, Stanford was ready to break the cycle and get their winning streak going again. With the help of junior forward Chiney Ogwumike, who had 25 points, the Cardinal offensive went on to defeat the Lady Bruins 75-49. Joslyn Tinkle added 16 points and Amber Orrange had 15 for Stanford. The key to the Cardinal’s success was holding the Pac-12’s top-scoring team to a season low in points. Stanford ended the first half with a 36-24 lead. Alyssia Brewer scored 14 points to lead the Bruins, while Thea Lemberger had 12 points and Atonye Nyingifa helped with 11.
(No.2) NOTRE DAME @ (No.9) TENNESSEE—Monday 1/28/13 7:00PM ET
- Number 2 ranked Notre Dame is currently on a 12 game winning streak and looking to keep it going. Meanwhile Tennessee’s streak is only at 8 games. Notre Dame has a 5-0 record on the road, which should be motivating the Lady Vols to up their game and feel more comfortable at home. The biggest concern for the Fighting Irish will be shutting down Tennessee’s offensive leader, junior Meighan Simmons who averages 17.2 points per game.
