Game of the Week
(No.2) CONNECTICUT @ (No.1) STANFORD
Both teams went into this crucial game undefeated and Connecticut came out on top with an impressive 61-35 win over the Cardinal. The score does not depict the close game that was expected in he match-up of the top two undefeated teams. The Huskies offense was led by their usual point-scoring powerhouse, sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, who had 19 points. The Cardinal was led by Chiney Ogwumike, who had 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ogwumike was held to 6-of-22 from the field by UConn’s tough defense led by 6’5 center Stefanie Dolson. Dolson had a double-double of her own with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
(No.5) NOTRE DAME @ (No.1) CONNECTICUT
- With the Huskies coming off of their twelfth straight win and maintaining their undefeated streak amidst a tough game versus top ranked Stanford, there is definitely going to be a lot of momentum brought into this game. Notre Dame, however, is no team to write off. Statistically, both teams are evenly matched, so this game should be a close one. Defense will have to be key for Notre Dame in order to shut down the Huskies offense and sophomore star Mosqueda-Lewis, who is leading the Connecticut offense with 16.4 points per game.
