In continuing with our look back at the year 2009 for NetScouts Basketball we had to show this video interview from Las Vegas and the NBA Summer League with Toronto Raptor DeMar DeRozan from USC. Carl Berman conducted the brief interview after one Raptor game. We had a good dialogue with our friends at Raptors Republic leading up to the NBA Draft and they were happy to see the Raps… Continue reading

The NBA deadline to trim the roster to 15 is Monday. Many are making final cuts now and prepping for opening day with their final 15. As always, some very good players will become available and teams from around the world (particularly bigger budget EuroLeague and EuroCup teams) will benefit.
Here is the latest list of cuts from the NBA:

Spain made some major adjustments after a slow start in the Eurobasket 2009 and those moves apparently paid off as they beat Lithuania 84-70 in Poland. The Spanish team went the NBA connection route and started 5 players who've either played or been drafted in the NBA, Pau Gasol (NBA Champion Lakers), Juan Carlos Navarro (Memphis), Ricky Rubio (Minnesota, NBA Draft Pick), Jorge Garbajosa (Toronto Raptors), and Rudy Fernandez (Portland Trail… Continue reading

Spain beat Israel 102-79 in a Eurobasket tune-up match, up next for the Spanish team is the impressive Poland group led by twin towers across the front line, NBA player Marcin Gortat from the Orlando Magic and Maciej Lampe who has been with several NBA clubs. Should be a great match-up.

Turkey - Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) guard Tarence Kinsey (South Carolina) has opted to sign with Euroleague and Turkish League contender Fenerbahce Ulker. The 6'7 190 pound guard, Kinsey, played for Fenerbahce two years ago and enjoyed success with the team and brings NBA playoff experience back to Europe.
Oyak Renault Bursa signed Gonzaga Bulldogs Center Josh Heytvelt. The 6'11 Zags big man is a very good European prospect as he shoots… Continue reading

Olympiacos (Greece) made it official and signed forward Linas Kleiza, which we've been reporting for over a week now and Regal Barcelona (Spain) signed former CSKA Moscow & 2nd team All-European Erazem Lorbek, a 6'10 Center who will start from day one.
While these moves are very positive additions to already solid squads, perhaps the organization with the most impressive off-season plan has been Real Madrid of the Spanish ACB.
Real is… Continue reading

Which European team has committed itself to having the most successful off-season? Olympiacos? Real Madrid? Regal Barcelona? Panthinaikos? CSKA Moscow? What about Montepaschi Siena?
Perhaps your favorite team has made the best acquisitions of the summer and has improved its roster to the point it can now challenge the big boys for their domestic league title, the cup championship, or perhaps even the EuroCup or EuroLeague finals.
We'll do a three-part series… Continue reading

We had a very busy and exciting month of July here at NetScouts Basketball.
First we scouted the NBA Summer League Las Vegas which featured 22 teams in all, 21 of which were NBA teams and the last being the NBA Development League All-Stars. It was a great event featuring the top picks from the recent NBA Draft and some free agents who've bounced around a bit that are hoping to… Continue reading
