The San Antonio Spurs have waived 6’7 229 SF Da’Sean Butler formerly of West Virginia.
Butler as you may recall, tore his ACL during the Mounaineer run through the NCAA tournament, specifically in their Final Four Semi against the Duke Blue Devils. He had been enjoying a terrific tourney himself and had hit game winning shots in the Big East Tourney as well and many had thought he would become a 1st round draft pick.
After his rehab, Butler signed with the Spurs (3/2011) but never appeared in any games.
Butler will likely get another shot through free-agency, an NBADL stint, or an offer from Europe where he could find a home as an athletic & tough small forward.
