The following are NetScouts Basketball’s All-Conference Teams for the Big Ten.
Player of the Year
Trey Burke (G, Michigan)
Trey Burke, Michigan, 6’0”/190# PG, So.- The most dynamic point guard in the country led the Big Ten with 6.8 apg and ranked second with 19.2 ppg. He accounted for the highest percentage of a team’s points within the conference and looks to be one of the top point guards in the NBA Draft.
Victor Oladipo, Indiana, 6’5”/215# SG, Jr.- Perhaps no player improved their stock more than Oladipo, who worked hard on his game and was one of the best all-around players in the country. He averaged 13.7 ppg and 6.2 rpg, while leading the conference in FG% and steals.
Aaron Craft, Ohio State, 6’2”/195# PG, Jr.- The reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year is the best on-ball defender in the country and finished second in the conference in steals. He was also second in the Big Ten with 4.5 apg and picked-up his offense in the second half, finishing at 9.7 ppg (10.2 ppg in-conference).
DeShaun Thomas, Ohio State, 6’7”/215# SF, Jr.- No one scored as consistently well as Thomas, hitting greater than double-digits in every game and leading the conference with 19.7 ppg and in FT% (84.3%). The Buckeyes needed every one of those point and also improved his defense and passing immensely.
Cody Zeller, Indiana, 7’0”/240# C/F, So.- Heralded as one of the top big men in the country, Zeller did nothing to disappoint, finishing in the top three in the conference with 16.8 ppg, 8.1 rpg, and a 57% FG%, while leading the Hoosiers to the conference title.
Brandon Paul, Illinois, 6’4”/200# SG, Sr.
D.J. Newbill, Penn State, 6’4”/210# SG, So.
Keith Appling, Michigan State, 6’1”/190# PG, Jr.
Trevor Mbakwe, Minnesota, 6’8”/245# PF, Sr.
Christian Watford, Indiana, 6’9”/232# PF, Sr.
International Player of the Year
Nik Stauskas, Michigan (Canada), 6’6”/190 SG, Fr.- The sharp-shooting Stauskas took the league by storm, playing his way into the starting lineup after only two weeks of action. He averaged 11.6 ppg, hitting an astounding 46% of his three-point attempts.
