Some of the key games that we highlighted at the event included:
On Saturday, Laverne Lutheran (CA) edged St. Patrick (NJ) 68-66. Arizona recruit Grant Jerrett scored 30 and grabbed 12 rebounds for the winners while Elijah Davis of St. Pat’s came in with 25 and 11. Later in the day, Oak Hill Academy (VA) behind UCLA recruit Jordan Adams’ 23 points topped Prestonwood (TX) 85-55. #1-rated 2013 recruit Julius Randle scored 23 for the losers.
Sunday got us ready for the National Prep School Invitational with four top Prep contests. St. Thomas More (CT) beat Wilbraham & Monson (MA) 71-60, St. Mark’s (MA) beat Friends Central (PA) 67-57 as 7-foot Kaleb Tarczewski (Arizona) scored 22 points, Brewster (NH) topped Tilton (NH) in a nationally televised game 57-53 as Florida State recruit Aaron Thomas scored 23 points. Tilton’s 6’11 Nerlens Noel came in with 22 points and seven blocked shots. Notre Dame Prep (MA) then took care of New Hampton Prep 55-49 behind Myles Davis’ (Xavier) 24 points.
Many of the top-rated high schools played Monday. St. Anthony’s (NJ) beat Miller Grove (GA) 60-48 as Kyle Anderson (UCLA) had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Bishop Gorman (NV) topped DeMatha (MD) 73-65 with top-rated recruit Shabazz Muhammad tearing it up for 37 points. Findlay Prep (NV) had no problem in derailing Chicago Simeon 75-50. Dominic Artis (Oregon) had a nice line for the winners with 21 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Mater Dei (CA) then demolished Christ the King (NY) 88-50 as Katin Reinhardt (UNLV) canned nine three-pointers on his way to 35 points in 27 minutes of action.
