The 2012 adidas Nations concluded last night. In the championship game, USA 2014 Red slipped past USA 2013 Blue 86-84 in overtime as NetScouts Basketball MVP 6’8 Noah Vonleh scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the winners. In the consolation game USA 2014 Blue beat Australia 82-62 as 6’4 Isaiah Whitehead (Lincoln – Brooklyn, NY) led the 2014 Blue squad with 15 points.
We’ll be posting our adidas Nations All-Tournament team later today.
Some of the players that impressed us in Day 3 of action included:
Australia won 4 straight games before losing their first game. 6’5 Dante Exum and 6’6 Owen Odijie continued to play well for the Aussies. Exum scored 16 in the first game of the day while Odijie had 15 on 7-f0r-8 shooting. Odogie has generally been able to get past his defender off the dribble pretty much at will. In their loss to the USA 2014 Red, Exum was solid again with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Odigie added 13 and seven.
6’11 Tony Trocha had his best game for Latin America coming up with 19 points, eight rebounds and eight blocked shots in a 77-56 win over the weak Europe team.
6’4 Emmanuel Mudiay, #5 2014 recruit, led the eventual champion USA 2014 Red with 17 points including three three’s in a 102-88 loss to the 2013 Blues. Jarell Martin and Devin Williams both scored 24 for the winners with Martin grabbing 11 rebounds. Mudiay followed that up with 18 points in his team’s 67-62 win over the Aussies. MVP Vonleh contributed 14 points and 13 boards for the winners.
Africa’s Clint Capela has been the leading rebounder at the event, and he added 17 boards and 15 points in Africa’s win over Latin America.
#7 rated 2013 power forward, 6’10 Jermaine Lawrence shot a perfect 8-for-8 and scored 19 points for the USA 2013 Blue in an easy win over the USA 2014 Blue.
