National Prep School Invitational - Final Day

We’ve reached the fourth and final day of the National Prep School Invitational in Kingston, Rhode Island. Here are the game recaps. We’ll add the All-Star Team selections later.

In the opening game the South Kent School (CT) won their second straight with a 84-75 victory over Christian Faith Academy (NC) 84-75JJ Moore, who is headed to Pitt, led South Kent with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Losisville signee, 6′2 Russell Smith chipped in 18 and point guard Danny Lawhorn dished out 12 assists.  Andrew Wiggins, a 6′6 senior from Canada, led Christian Faith Academy with 18 points.

St. Thomas More (CT) had little problem dispatching Massanutten Military Academy (VA) 94-62. St. Thomas More used all 13 players on their roster and were led by 6′11 sophomore Andre Drummond who scored 14 on 6-7 shooting in 17 minutes of play.

St, Andrew’s (RI) topped Maine Central Institute 87-81 in an entertaining game. St. Andrew’s was led by their dynamic duo of 6′5 Syracuse signee Michael Carter-Williams and 6′5 sophomore Ricardo Ledo. Carter-Williams scored 37 points on 5-8 three-point shooting to go along with six rebounds, eight assists, four steals and only one turnover. Ledo added 28 on 4-9 three-point shooting. MCI was led by 6′7 Tyshawn Bell who scored 31 points.

The Winchendon School (MA) was impressive in topping the Canarias Basketball Academy (Canary Islands) 69-46. Anthony Ireland, a 5′10 point guard headed to Loyola Marymount, led Winchendon with 19 points and seven assists. Mike Ocherobia, a strong 6′8 power forward led the visitors from the Canary Islands with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Shabazz Napier, a 6′0 junior point guard took the game over as Lawrence Academy (MA) upset Northfield Mt. Hermon (MA) 83-81. Napier hit a 32-foot three-pointer with three seconds left to give Lawrence the win. Napier previously had hit a 30-footer to tie the game with 25 seconds left. He scored 37 points on 7-16 three-point shooting to go along with six assists. Hector Harold, a 6′7 wing headed to Pepperdine led Northfield Mt. Hermon with 24 points while Majok Majok, a 6′8 power forward from Australia chipped in with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

In the final game of the the tournament, Worcester Academy (MA) outlasted an gritty Suffield Academy (CT) 96-85 behind 25 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists from Rhode Island signee Bill Baron. Xavier Pollard, a 6′3 sophomore guard from The Bronx, led Suffield with 30 points and 10 rebounds.
