National Prep School Basketball Invitational - Day 3

Another seven games were played at the National Prep School Invitational in Kingston, RI before hundreds of college coaches and fans. Everyone was treated to some exciting games and great talent. Here’s the day’s recap:

The first game was a thriller as Christian Faith Academy (NC) came back from an 18-point halftime deficit to nip Progressive Christian Academy (MD) 67-66. Andrew Wiggins, an impressive 6′6 freshman from Canada scored 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds for the winners. Shamon Cox, a 6′3 postgrad from Florida led Progressive Christian with 14.

Evelyn Mack Academy (NC) had no problem with a short-handed Rise Academy in a 70-53 win. Aishon White, a 6′2 senior guard led Evelyn Mack With 18 points. Nelson Bishop, a 6′3 guard from Brooklyn, led Rise with 15.

In the best game of the day the South Kent School (CT) held off an inspired effort from the Canarias Basketball Academy (Canary Islands) 70-69. South Kent was helped for several late traveling calls on Canarias as well as a late technical foul. Patrik Auda missed a runner in the last seconds to could have given Canarias a huge upset. Auda, a 6′9 senior from the Czech Republic, scored 24 to go along with 11 rebounds. Tom Pereira, a sharpshooting 6′2 guard from England impressed with 27 points on 7-15 three-point shooting for Canarias. JJ Moore, a Pitt signed, scored 30 for South Kent.

Maine Central Institute got off to a double-digit lead and then held off a late rush by Proctor Academy (NH) 80-76. Rhode Island signee Levan Shengalia scored 24 and had 7 rebounds for MCI. Taevaunn Price, a 6′3 senior from Canada led Proctor with 27 points.

In the day’s other games Humble Christian Life Academy (TX) beat Notre Dame Prep (MA) 91-77, Lawrence Academy had no problem with Massanutten Military Academy (VA) in a 90-68 win, and Northfield Mt. Hermon (MA) ran away from Bridgton Academy (ME) 80-58.
